
Age sector representatives, concerned individuals, community and voluntary sector representatives and Age NI have come together to create age sector networks. The steering groups have scheduled a series of information sharing public meetings to seek the input of older people and their representatives and those concerned about the welfare of older people.

Older people from Co. Antrim are invited to come along to Larne library and meet with representatives from Social Security Agency, Land and Property Services, nidirect and NIHE to ask them questions about benefit uptake. The event aimed at those aged 60 and over is part of the Social Security Agency's campaign which aims at promoting benefit uptake awareness, where pensioner take up of benefit is low.

Linking Generations NI (Beth Johnson Foundation)

This seminar is suitable for anyone interested in developing intergenerational projects and programmes. The aim of the seminar is to raise awareness of intergenerational practice, and highlight the many possibilities intergenerational programmes offer to the age sector, education, communities and public policy agendas. Delegates will receive basic guidance and training on establishing and running intergenerational projects and programmes, as well as having the opportunity to explore possible funding streams for intergenerational initiatives.

Visitors to the community safety roadshows will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from a variety of organisations including NIE, PSNI, Victim Support, Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, Bluebirds and local pharmacies. The roadshows will also promote intergenerational engagement with a workshop organised by CRUN, bringing young people and older people together. Admission is free and light refreshments will be served.

The Community Foundation for Northern Ireland (The Turkington Fund)

This event invites older people's projects who have been grant recipients of the Turkington Fund to attend a 'recognition' themed seminar. Invitees will take part in structured feedback sessions on the projects that they have undertaken, and they will also be invited to display the results of their work at the event. The Turkington Fund aims to recognise and celebrate the contribution of older people to our society by offering funding for locally based community projects which are run by and for older people.
